Sleep!

So remember how I said Hunter was sleeping by himself when we left the hospital? Yeeeah. That only lasted for the day we were released...not even into the night. Currently he will nap in his swing, but has to be held all night long. It makes for easy nursing, but at this point I would kill to sleep laying down and on my side or my stomach.

Conveniently you forget about the complete and utter lack of sleep when deciding to have a second. Even so, its totally worth it.

Jaundice =(

Yesterday morning Hunter was readmitted to the hospital for jaundice. His bilirubin levels were at 20, which is quite high so he had to spent all of yesterday, last night, and this morning under the bili lights. He was NOT a happy camper and cried pretty much all night long. We got less than an hour of sleep total. It was pretty much torture for all of us because I cant stand him crying like that and all I could do to comfort him was to hold his hands. I broke a couple of rules and took him out about once per hour to nurse so he could find some comfort. It was so sad having to put him back in "the box." The good thing is that hes all better now and he is actually sleeping on his own now. Before I had to hold him for either of us to sleep. Hes not a spoiled baby at all, haha!

Hunter Stuart: A Birth Story

I am normally a procrastinator but I figure I should get to writing this story before I forget the details.

It all started when we were told on Friday, April 8th, that I had low amniotic fluid and that it was continuing to drop. Due to this the doctors were concerned that if he stayed in there that we would have complications (like cord compression, etc). They scheduled us for an induction at 7:30 am on Saturday, April 9th. We got to the hospital right on time and I changed into my gown and all of that fun stuff.

After that the nurse took down all of our family history and I got a dose of Cervadil at 9:20 am. I was told that they would wait twelve hours to see how my contractions were. So, we waited. Not a lot happened in that twelve hours. They let me eat throughout the day so we watched movies, snacked, and had a couple of visitors. I started contracting around 3 lightly and they progressed throughout the night. I took a hot shower which was amazing but he was so low in the birth canal the pressure of standing up was just too much. At 9 pm I was checked and was 3 cm dilated and 80 percent effaced. They decided to wait a couple of hours to see what my body would do, but at 10 my contractions started to space out. At 11 I got a dose of Pitocin and was checked again at 3 am. I was 8 cms dilated and 100% effaced. The nurse said she was going to let the doctor know and that I should let her know if I felt any changes. The next contraction hit and I felt the urge to push so I called her back in and sure enough, I was dilated to a 10 and his head was right there. I had to lay on my sidewhile we waited for the doctor to get there. I pushed through 3 contractions and Hunter was born at 3:40 am!

Baby is coming...

We have an induction scheduled tomorrow morning at 7:30 am! The amniotic fluid around the baby has been consistently dropping week over week and we don't want to take any chances that the levels will continue to drop and the baby will be in danger. At this point if it drops any more then that could be the case, hence the induction. I will be at 38 weeks tomorrow so things should go smoothly.

Check back for updates!

Grey's Anatomy

I know this is a little late since the episode I am about to refer to happened last Thursday, but I have a DVR and we just barely watched it last night. I just have to express in writing how absolutely disappointed I am with the episode. They did a "musical event" and it was HORRIBLE. It could have been SUCH a great episode if they would have skipped the singing mumbo jumbo but nooooo, they had to try to be like Glee and House and sing. Awful.

I feel so much better now that I got that off of my chest. Ha.

I am a bad blogger

I am a horrible blogger. I have been very neglectful, and I am sorry for that. I could have posted a million times between now and the last post but I really wanted to do posts with photos and I have a hard time getting off the couch and I usually forget until I am already sitting down. I know its sad, but its true.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the baby's room that I took weeks and weeks ago for the blog. His name is now up over the changing table, as well as white curtains hung and a shaggy rug on the floor. There is also a big plush glider thats in the corner on the left of the window (cant see it in the picture). Oh, and Avah painted some fantastic pictures of our family on a few square canvases that have also been hung.

I will leave you with a couple of pictures from the last month or so. The first is Avah at her soccer game and the second is Avah and I at the zoo over spring break. I will try to update more, I promise!
